Reflextions from Sevilla
| 1.We build our own cages and we get
into them, and although we run away with the speed of a train or a plane
- or even netscaping in www - we carry them with us. It seems to be paradoxical,
although it is very common...
It is also certain that travelling we give us the opportunity of knowing things we did not know, nothing much about the ‘new’ place ( the destiny ) but about the spot we start ( we ourselves, our own reality )!.Move away to look from near. Become stranged to apprehend what we leave behind. Living is like travelling in a train’s wagon : moving and inside the quiteness, the security, the cage... but we are all used to look through the window and to contemplate, with the neatness of the known - our past - and the still clear horizon that wait for us - our future -. The present time, ephemeral and vertiginous , does not give us the chance of a look. To leave the wagon - the cage - is up to you : you can get out of the train any time you want, you only need valour ( or that someone / something pushes you! ) but it worths it because only doing that, travelling again you will be able to contemplate the past with images of your regards. You will have lived. And do not take care about loosing a train, or dashing to pieces, or falling to the void ! another train will pass to pick you up that will carry you to your destiny. But remember : for the life’s train no return tickets are sold. I am sorry. Carla. |
| 2."I present my idea of architecture
with its different skins. Able to organize and structure a space. The train
has been the symbol of steam machines, and its has been got responsible
for the conception of a new social representation. Its image has been associated
with speed, and eventhough it is envelopes ables the separation of different
spaces, it can generate a real habitat.
I propose the tunnel like antithesis static to dynamic idea of the train, that intends to solve the same problems of design and living space that appear in a mobile structure. Its torsion as answer to the terrain, on the other hand its capacity to adjuste to all places. It is there that it colonizes a new way of living and discovering INSIDE-OUTSIDE. Awaking the lineal path as the trajectory as in real life and proper architecture, appears a beggining and an end. An order inside a chaos. A present and a future" Manuel-Viggo, Castilla Roldán.
